Adventureland in pink

Watched Adventureland last night (in my continuing quest to dwindle my Netflix queue. Between being directed by Greg Mottola (the mastermind behind my beloved, Superbad) and featuring Kristen Stewart and Ryan Reynolds doing what they do best (indie films), I really thought this was a sure thing.
The best thing I can say for Adventureland is that it feels like a much truer representation of what the 80s looked like than, well, most 80s films. The soundtrack features some great gems and the clothes don’t make you cringe in horror. The film is supported by solid performances from my aforementioned lovelies, Stewart and Reynolds, as well as Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig making me cry with laughter. Unfortunately, the script and story isn’t quite enough to make it the superb film it had all the potential to be. I found Jesse Eisenberg to be boring as the glassy-eyed romantic who prefers existential poetry to, you know, the real world (surprise, he’s a virgin) and unfortunately, the movie is mostly about him and the realization that oh my god, Shakespeare doesn’t pay the bills. (Granted, I got my first job when I was 14, so I admit that I wrinkle my nose at college graduates who have never worked a day in their life.)
It’s not a terrible film, but I would be tempted to tell potential recommendees to watch Superbad instead.

I don’t want them to change me in there. Turn me into some kind of monster that I’m not.

I’ve slowly been falling more and more in love with Bucky with every re-watch of Captain America. I love him and Tiny!Steve. Someone please tell me I don’t need a Winter Soldier outfit. Please.

I try not to take anything too seriously - especially myself.

Dahlia. :) I look like a 17 year-old girl who lives just east of the Mountains, with the heart of a 12 year-old who lives in Japan, and the soul of a 40 year-old who resides in Germany. Spoiler: I'm not 17, 12, or 40.

I try to use my Tumblr to express the things that go beyond words, but I also use it as an outlet to be just plain silly.

Here there be: Fashion. Nostalgia. Anime. Manga. Deutsch. Sylvia Plath (And Other Notable Female Artists). Music. Pretty Things. Japanese Boys. Literature. Gifts For My Friends. Silly Thoughts. Dreams. My Pathetic Japanese Skills. And every now and then... A Graphic That I've Made.
